Rainbow Brite

Here is a rainbow that I just saw. It is the brightest rainbow I have ever seen! A storm is blowing in behind it. Anyway I thought it was beautiful and needed to be shared with you :)

Lilerdoodle....Our pride and joy!

I am sorry to say to all of my friend and family that have dogs, but I am pretty sure that Lily is the absolute best dog in the world. In case you don't remember me telling you she gets put in her kennel now when we leave the house and all last week we literally had to capture her and toss her in(well when I say we, I mean Aaron, cause I felt too bad about it to actually do it) So during the day I worked with her and tried my hardest to get her to go into the kennel, Treats, cheese, Kong stuff, but nothing worked. Every time the word kennel came out of my mouth she would instantly go crazy and run around the house as fast as she could and jump around, she even growled a couple times! I was ready to just cry! So Monday, I figured ok we'll try this again, and so I did some of her other tricks with her, shake, tell me a secret, patience, and we're working on rolling over- but thats a hard one. Then I got up off the floor and said "Ok Lily, kennel." and to my complete disbelief she ran right in! I could not believe my eyes! I praised her like she had just won the Eukanuba National Championship, and gave her so many treats she may have gained a couple pounds! And now she goes in when we are GETTING READY to leave, ALL BY HERSELF!!!!!!!! We have the best puppy ever! So as soon as Aaron got home that day I showed him and he was so happy that he practically got in the kennel with her and was telling her how good she is.....

I know, sometimes I worry too...... ;)

I also made homemade cinnamon rolls monday- and they are soooooooooooo delicious!

I hope Aaron isn't getting too used to all these home baked goodies!

So when Aaron comes home from school, Lily is just beside herself and can not wait to get some of her daddy's pets. Somedays she is so impatient he has to literally just stand at the door and wait for her to sit and behave. It's hysterical. One of the very first things he does when he gets home is take his shirt off, the second he steps in the door, I have talked to many other spouses and they all seem to have this very same issue. Anyway his new thing is draping it across Lily and having her wear it like a cape, however one day, I turned around to find him actually putting it ON her! I always thought I'd be the first to dress her up, but I was clearly mistaken!

Lastly about Lilerdoodle, Gram made her a scarf with some left over fabric we got to make me an apron over christmas!! I got it last night and put it on her and it is soooo cute! Thank you Gram!! Lily loves it!

Tuesday I decided that Aaron and I would make our own personal pan pizzas. We don't like the same things on our pizzas so this was a good solution to that problem, and they were MMMMmmmm good!

All in a days work...

Today feels like Sunday because Aaron didn't have school on Friday so all day I have been all mixed up. Anyway I was a very busy and productive girl today! I did the laundry,went and ate lunch with Aaron, Lenny, Andrea, and Madler, got groceries, swept and mopped the floor, baked homemade brownies, made homemade salsa, homemade guacamole, and whipped up some Jello brand vanilla pudding for Aaron's lunch this week!

Okay, so it kinda looks like mashed potatoes, but its ice cream I promise, and it's delicious!!

BUSY I TELL YA! I baked the brownies to go with the homemade ice cream I made yesterday...yummmmm! 

The mountains looked particularly beautiful this afternoon, so I wanted to share them with you! I have decided that I always want to have a view of the mountains, they are just so beautiful and help to remind you of how small you really are in comparison.

Lily and her bone, she didn't chew on it for about a week and a half cause she wasn't sure what to do with it, so we put some peanut butter in one end. Ever since then she LOVES it!

Naughty Naughty Naughty!

I forgot to add earlier that we have a naughty adolescent puppy on our hands who doesn't like it when we leave the house! She's not used to the kennel and is kind of, ok not kind of, she is all out terrified of it. So I felt like she needed some time to explore it on her own so she doesn't grow to hate it and think its a place of punishment from being thrown in against her will. And we haven't had any real problems with it til now. 

This is miss Lily's handy work, she was reading cosmo and also planning her next place to visit on the island with a map, all while eating some chips from Aaron's lunch, which she pulled off the table. NAUGHTY!

Needless to say she gets shoved in the kennel now.

Falling back into routine, and loving it!

Things are finally starting to calm down a bit! I know this blog is LOOOONG over due. Aaron started classes Last Monday, and I'm finally falling back into my routine. I'm happy to have a break from the break! It was so wonderful to go back to the states and into civilization again! It was even better seeing my family and friends. Unfortunately there is never enough time. We both wanted to try and spend an equal amount of time with everyone, but when we were one place we felt like we couldn't stay for too long cause there were more places and people to see. It was very busy! Then when it was time to leave I was so sad cause I wanted to spend more time with everyone and get to do some of the things I wanted to do, but happy to be going back to our home here. So many emotions!

Aaron's Dad, Roy, came back with us until the 10th. We had a really good time. We arrived here on a Monday evening and we got home we had just run out of power, normally I wouldn't be too alarmed, except 1-it was a holiday so we didn't know if it would be open and 2-we have 5 lbs of beef in the freezer! (I have learned you need to stock up for those times when there is a beef shortage) So we basically set our luggage down and ran to the school hoping the power place would be open since new students would be arriving. Luckily they were so we got power and our beef was safe!

After the power Crisis we went to the Golden Dragon restaurant right up the street for dinner. After that we were all so exhausted that we all just went to bed. The plan Tuesday was to rent a car and go to Roseau but we weren't able to get a car til Wednesday, so we went on the Indian River Tour. A guide Rows you down the river, and at the end there is a bar and garden area you can get a drink and walk around then head back.

Its very relaxing. Then we walked through Portsmouth and went to Cabrits National Park and saw Fort Shirley. Its really interesting to learn about the history of another country. I had a good time, and the view was amazing!

Honestly I have no idea, I just do what I'm told!

It was a fun day. After that we went and checked Roy into his hotel and ate there. He stayed at De Champ, a hotel near the school. The owners were very nice and it was a nice place for him to stay. The first night he had to sleep on our floor because they were full till Tuesday:( Wednesday we rented a car, well we thought it was in Portsmouth, then found out it was in Roseau, which was a nogo because that was an hour away and returning it would have been a headache. So Aaron and his dad actually ended up getting one from a different place in Portsmouth we then drove to Champagne Bay, where we snorkeled and saw not one but two sea turtles!

I wish I could describe to you how elegant they were in the water. Unfortunately nothing I say will get that across, which is like most of this island actually. On all of the trips I've been on whether it be a challenging hike or just a trip to the beach the pictures I take and the way I describe it could never come close to the actual beauty of it.

I know it looks like this is just the same turtle twice but they wouldn't get close enough to get them together. I'm pretty sure I fell in love with the water all over again when I saw these guys, Gram, I know how much you love them and I wish you could have been here to see them, it was absolutely amazing!

Its called Champagne bay because of the bubbles that come up from the ocean floor. It was pretty cool.

Then we drove to Scotts head, which is where the Atlantic ocean and the Caribbean Sea are separated by a strip of land maybe 20 or 30 feet wide. It was amazing to see the rough ocean and the calm sea so close to each other.

Then we picked up some groceries in Roseau and ate at the Garage, a restaurant in Roseau. We were very tired when we got back and parted ways and went to bed. Thursday morning we took it easy and the went diving in the afternoon.

Our boat broke down before we even got in the water, luckily we were near a dive site and the dive shop has local friends with boats to tow us there!

Here is the barracuda that swam right in front of us...Lucky for us he wasn't hungry and just kept swimming!

I'm not sure what kind of fish this guy is but he is pretty cool. I think he may be a box fish of some sort, but I'm not for sure. I need to take a fish recognition class!

I think this one is a puffer fish, its that or a spiny box fish.

The scuba equipment is very heavy! Now it look like Erick isn't going to let me back on the boat!

Our boat wouldn't start after our last dive on friday so we had to get in another boat and they took us to the Cabrits Dive Cafe. They gave us free beer and let us use the restroom then we got picked up and taken back to the dive shop.

Friday we went diving in the morning and then went out to dinner for Andreas birthday that evening to Sunset bay. Then Saturday we went to Red Rock Haven and had a great lunch and relaxing afternoon on the beach.

That night we ate supper at PBH (Portsmouth beach Hotel) It was a biter sweet day cause it was Roy's last day and one of Aaron's last days of freedom as well. The next day Roy was taken to the airport and Aaron had to register for classes. It was a wonderful break but we are glad things are back to normal!
