It all started at about 5:30 just as I was about to start dinner and the power clicked off. Since we didn't know how long it would last we didn't want to open the fridge. So we decided we would walk around and find a cheap place to eat. It wasn't until we were leaving that we realized the rest of the building still had power. We ended up eating at a sushi place we found a couple weeks ago, it was delicious. When we got home we still didn't have power and so we called the electric company to make sure there was nothing wrong with our account and that there wasn't any reason on their end that the power should be out. We were told that it was probably a fuse and to call the building supervisor to replace it. We called and called, and called, finally at about 11pm we got ahold of him to come fix it. We went to bed and sometime at around midnight the it kicked back on. The super called and said that it wasn't a fuse but that the wires are in really bad shape and one had broken, but that he had rigged it to work until Monday when he could call the company and have them come fix it. We actually lost power again Sunday evening for about an hour, we were hoping he wasn't going to get electrocuted while fixing it again. Hopefully it gets fixed, from what he told us it is really bad.

Square One.
I had all intentions of updating the blog yesterday. However yesterday did not go as I had planned plus for whatever reason I kept thinking it was Tuesday. Meeka was due for her yearly shots so we went to a new vet. He was very nice and seemed good, but I really miss the vet in Iowa, he was straight and to the point and of course his prices were MUCH MUCH lower! Poor girl ended up having ear mites. So now I've got drops and ointment to squirt in her AND Lily's little ears. After the vet She was just acting funny all day and very very cuddly. I couldn't walk 3 feet away without her glued to my side. I felt so bad for her.
Later I ended up getting a call from the mother I was going to be starting to babysit for. She told me that she felt she had made a mistake hiring me. She said she was uncomfortable that I am new to the area and didn't know my way around very well and that she just felt anxious about it in general. I wouldn't be as upset as I am about this except she did a background check on me, which took about two weeks because the company who does them had not yet registered my new last name with my ss number. Then she sat down with me and talked about hours, payment, things the little girl liked to do, and told me I had the job....PKJGRAVJAUIOIFBSKLA! Any way long story short, I felt like a bad doggie mommy because of the mites and then I felt like I'm some sort of closet child murderer after being "let go" from a job I never started. Yesterday was not a good day.
So now back to square one.
Well you've heard enough wining from me for today! My next post will be much more positive I promise!
Who wouldn't feel like a bad mommy when you get this look all day?

Apple pie anyone?
Monday I had finally gathered up all the components to make apple pie, the drink. I've been wanting to make it for a few months now but couldn't remember the recipe so I had to find a new one. With the help of Facebook I found the one I had been looking for!! I am very pleased to say it turned out wonderfully!
Yummy! Fresh apple pie!
(the lighting was poor and I used my phone to take the picture, hence the poor quality. I learned my lesson. No more being lazy- go get the camera!)
The crazy-crafty part of me HAD to make some super cute labels. I love how they turned out! The small print on the bottom says"An apple a day, keeps the doctor away" I think it would be soo cute to give a bottle as a gift. I'd tie some red and white checkered ribbon around the neck of the bottle and put it in a tall red gift bag. Maybe attach a label that says "Fresh Apples" or just the apple on the front of the bottle. How cute would that be!
:) Delicious!

Snowdogs
I was organizing some pictures today when I came across these. Aaron and I made them one day. We went out to play with the dogs and ended up playing our selves. I miss the farm and being able to let the girls out and running around with them.
Our snow-family!
This one is Meeka, you can tell by the long tail.
This is Lily, notice the curly tail :)
Our babies!

Crunchy Homemade Granola
I love granola. Plain, golden, crunchy deliciousness. However its so expensive for a tiny little box of it. So I figured I'd just make my own. I searched tons of recipes but they all had dried fruit, nuts and so much sugar I was sure you would get a cavity after just one bite. So I took it upon myself to make my own granola recipe. It was heavenly. I'd love to share my yummy crunchy granola with you!!
Ingredients
I've also come up with a couple variations I might try in the near future. This was VERY good granola we are almost out! It's great with yogurt, on Ice Cream, or plain. I think you should make some this weekend, you wont regret it! Let me know how it turns out! Have a great weekend! Happy baking! :)
