We're getting Married!!!!

I'm sure you've heard by now (news travels faster than I thought) Aaron proposed!!!!!! And I'm sure you are DYING to hear how it happened! So here ya go...

It all started when I was trying to schedule a time for our friends Jen and Andrea to take our pictures. I kept hurling dates and days at Aaron and he kept being so wishy-washy about it and telling me he just wasn't sure when he could do it. I finally had enough and just told both Jen and Andrea that we'd schedule it for Sunday the 21st and told Aaron that he would just have to make that work. Some times you just have to be a little bossy! Then a couple days later Aaron told me he scheduled a scuba dive for just the two of us and our favorite divemaster, Don, and that is why he wasn't sure when he could do the pictures. I of course asked a billion and one questions as to how he managed to schedule a dive with just us, because normally there is 6-10 people on a dive,  he just said "Well Don knows us really well, and they aren't busy that day, and  we've both taken courses there so he (Don) said he wouldn't mind taking just us." 

So when we were planning the dive, Don said we'd do a couple skills about half way through, just as a refresher because it had been about 3 months since we last went on a dive. I of course agreed, and we drove to the dive site. Once to Coconut Beach we suited up and put all of our gear on and got into the water. We swam about 10 minutes out where we actually got to see a stingray ( I LOVE STINGRAYS! They are just so amazing to watch) and dropped down there in about 20ft of water. I was enjoying the dive! Under water life is so amazing and fun to see, it is literally like being on a different planet. At about 60ft there was a clearing in the reef and so Don swam over and signaled me (remember, we are under water, so there is no actual speaking) to come over and do some skills. He asked me to stand on the sea floor, I did what he asked, but he kept asking me to do the same skill over again and I was getting flustered, because I had no idea what I could be doing wrong I was doing exactly what he told me to do, STAND! Then he signaled, "okay, watch Aaron" so I turned around to look at him and it took me a few seconds to realize what was happening! Aaron was down on one knee holding the ring box in his hands! I was absolutely shocked, I immediately put my hand on my regulator (thing in my mouth keeping me breathing) so it wouldn't come out and I inhale a bunch of sea water. I had so many emotions and thoughts pent up in my head...AND I COUDN'T SAY ONE WORD!!!!! It was killing me! I needed to scream or say something! So while I was having this internal battle with myself poor Aaron was still on one knee, so he casually shrugged his shoulders, like "yes or no?" I of course nodded my head "yes" all the while screaming it in my head! Then he put the ring on my finger.  So we continued the dive, which became increasingly hard to enjoy, since all I wanted to do was 1.) scream at the top of my lungs 2.) Kiss and hug my FIANCE!!! 3.) Ask a gazillion questions! 

We FINALLY reached the surface and I believe the first words out of my mouth were "Oh my gosh I think thats the best dive I'll ever have in my life!" to which Aaron replied "It had better be!" Once we got to shore and stripped off all our gear I was finally able to kiss and hug him. We had some sparkling grape juice and cookies to celebrate. As we headed back to the dive shop to clean off all of our stuff, I just kept staring at my ring! I couldn't believe what just happened!! After that we went home and showered we decided the perfect ending to the perfect day would be to go have a nice dinner together. We went to Riverside Restaurant and it was perfect it wasn't busy, It was quite and romantic. Then we went home and made a few excited calls.  It was almost midnight here before we finally got to sleep, exhausted, but very excited!

My BEAUTIFUL ring. I absolutely LOVE the ring! We hadn't even talked about rings so for picking it out all on his own he did amazing! Who am I kidding his whole engagement plan was amazing! Ladies and Gentlemen, I have a keeper ;)

As for all the details:

We have not picked a date yet, we have no idea when we want to have it, we are open to suggestions!! We do know that we won't have the wedding here in Dominica, although it would be beautiful, we want our friend and family to be able to share our special day with us. As soon as we sort out more of the details I'll let you know!!

Lily Get's A Little Sister!

After much discussion we have decided to open our home to another needy Dominican puppy. The mother of the litter of 8 puppies was starving to death and not producing milk for the puppies. So when they were found by members of PAWS, the same organization we got Lily though, They saved the starving puppies. When we got her she was only 5 weeks old and very tiny and very very clumsy! She just turned 7 weeks Monday, and has grown so much! She has a spunky little personality and HATES to cuddle! (She just gets too hot) She hates her kennel and panics when she's in it, but is slowly progressing and learning that maybe it's not quite as bad as she first thought. She is a little peeing and pooping machine, just like a real baby! She's a handful, but a great addition to our family.

Lily loves her little sister, they bite on each other, and growl at each other, and run and pounce together. They are the perfect pair. The funny thing is that they actuallyARE half sisters! They both have the same mother, Lily is just from the litter before Meeka. Aaron and I really thought that was pretty cool, that our girls are really sisters!

More Double Rainbows and Tropical Breezes for the Sliter-Robertson Household!

We FINALLY found out this afternoon that we will be staying in Dominica for 5th semester! I am sooooooo relieved to have a plan! That horrible sinking feeling in my stomach is finally gone! I don't have a time frame for when we'll be moving back to the states, but don't worry Gram, I promise I won't stay here forever:) It's pretty bitter sweet for the both of us. We are both sad we won't get to see our families and friends for a while, or get to go shopping (yes, even Aaron misses that!), or eat Ice cream. But it's also nice because it cuts out two moves for us, and it's less expensive. I'M SO HAPPY JUST TO KNOW!!!! Did I mention that? Well thats all for now. I love you all and miss you bunches! I'll leave you  with a preview of the pictures we had taken Sunday by some friends!! I've only seen Andrea's work, but they are great and I can't wait to Jen's too!!!!!

What a Wonderful Weekend!

Aaron took his mini 2 last monday and he did great. We were pretty tired that night so we just stayed in and played games. Thursday Aaron and I got invited to go out for a couple drinks with a couple of our friends so we went out to a place we hadn't been before called Le Courtyard. It was really fun, it is pretty much just a patio and outside bar with a kitchen attached. I got a delicious cranberry margarita and Aaron had a whiskey and coke. We all had a really good time. Then on Friday we went to dinner at a place called Sunset Bay Club.  There was a group of 22 of us that went. Its about a 25 minute drive from where we live so we all piled into a couple transport buses. They are known for their plates of lobster, because they give you a plate of about 13-15 to work your way through. So Aaron and I shared and order of lobster, it was delicious! I was stuffed when we left to come back home!

We were debating the whole night over Aaron's shirt. He thought it was grey, but everyone else said green.  Lenny said you can really tell its green right before the picture was snapped, so I'm about to crack up laughing.

We were playing with the hermit crabs on the beach and I picked this one up to show Aaron the shell and when I put it in his hand the little guy came out of it! I've always wondered what they look like without a shell!

It was great to spend some time with our little group, because the semester is coming to an end again and so that means they will be moving on to the next part of their journey.  Andrea Riley leaves next week already to go home and prepare for their move to Miami. There are only 5 more weeks left of semester 4! I can't believe how fast it has gone! We hopefully find out today wheather or not we will be staying here or heading to Miami. We applied for here so we're really hoping we get it!! Cross your fingers for us! As soon as I know I'll let all of you know.

Anyway then on Saturday we had the 4th semester banquet, also known as Medical School Prom. I had so much fun dressing up and wearing makeup and HEELS! It was so much fun to be girly again! I think that has been my number one challenge about being here. Its impractical to wear makeup cause you'll just sweat it off, and heels, come on, walking on these roads, I don't think so. And you don't wear nice cloths because who knows what will happen to you during the day, you fall up or down a hill, dirt, bugs, etc. So its hard to feel pretty and girly here when you are used to makeup and heels and nice clothes. Now don't get me wrong I know it sounds like I'm just complaining,  I love hiking and being outdoorsy, but I love makeup and heels too... :D.  Okay back to the party,  It was held at Fort Shirly, which when I first heard that I was wondering how that was going to work because Fort Shirly is outside and where soldiers uses to defend the island. However, It was beautiful, they did such a wonderful job of decorating it. There was a tent outside which had some tables under it  and one of the buildings, which I didn't know was functional, I thought it was just a replica, also had tables upstairs for the dinner. Now in the past I have heard so many people complain about how awful the food is, no offense to anyone, but we are in a third world country, when food is catered in its not like it is in the U.S. So I didn't have very high expectations for the food so I wasn't let down in any way.  After dinner there were some awards such as,  the person most likely to be on facebook rather than assisting with surgery, person most likely to get peed on in their peds rotation, the next Dr. House,  person most likely to be at the bar 5 minutes after step one, etc. They were pretty funny.  By the time that was done they had cleared the upstairs tables and the dance was about to start. A couple of Aaron's classmates started the dance off with some latin dancing, they did a really great job!  It was fun to watch them. We danced for a while then around 11:45 decided to head home and get some sleep. It was a very fun night!

No grandpuppies for us :)

Last Saturday we too Lily over to a friend's house where the vet came and "fixed" our little Lily and their little boy WeeBey. It was scary! It was done outside on their porch.  Here is a video I put together of the surgeries. Enjoy!!
